On Dec. 21st, me and my youngest son Khaled, set out to join my husband in Tunisia. After hearing all kinds of frightening things about the violence and uprisings, we were a little concerned. My parents and friends in the States were worried about our safety. We took the Emirates flight which seemed to take forever. It leaves at 3:40 am from Kuwait and transits in Dubai. The Dubai airport was super busy with all the Christmas travelers and we managed to find a seat at Costa Coffee, bleary-eyed with time to kill. You can certainly see that Dubai is an international hub by looking at the Flight Info screen! We were so sleepy that we almost missed our plane, thank God we were close to our gate!
The plane was packed. We were seated and waiting to take off and then a passenger needed to disembark and this made us lose out place in line for take off. Oh well, a little delay is to be expected!
After what seemed like a very long 6 hours, we arrived at the Carthage airport in Tunis. It was modern and large although it seemed to take forever to get our bags - again a full plane! Our first few bags came out early and then our 3rd bag was last, but at least not lost!
We arrived at our villa and were completely surprised at how cute it is! It's an old Arabic style house that's really close to the sea. The area is called Mersa and it's reknown for it's white buildings and turquoise blue colors! Very lovely neighborhoods, quiet, quaint and charming!
